Job Description:

Role Overview

As a Technical Director you’ll typically be working on a variety of projects at once from a University in Scotland to a high‑rise residential tower in London, with plenty of international projects. All with the same goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising on the fire safety of the building.

You’ll be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and helping to inform the design team about what changes could be made to increase the safety of the building.

Professional Development

In addition to the above day to day role, we will assist the successful candidate toward his/her professional registration via IFE and other professional organisations. At WSP, we have multiple opportunity for our fire engineers to grow via a bespoke programme designed to provide you with both professional skills and specialist technical development opportunities. The programme is supported by our senior leadership team and is tailored give you the support, guidance and the development opportunities you need to help you work towards chartered status or equivalent professional qualifications. The structured programme includes but is not limited to training in:

  • Technical report writing
  • Team specific technical skills
  • Project management (introduction and advanced)

Qualifications

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.

Extensive experience within the fire engineering consulting industry.

Location

This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.
