We are seeking an experienced and motivated Respiratory Service Lead to oversee the safe, effective and high-quality delivery of our Respiratory Diagnostic Services.
Main duties of the job
Service leadership and delivery
- Provide operational and clinical leadership for Respiratory Diagnostic Services across sites.
- Ensure services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with national standards, internal policies and contractual requirements.
Line management and staff support
- Hold line management responsibility for Respiratory Assistants and designated clinical staff.
- Support staff wellbeing, competence and professional development within the service.
Training and competency oversight
- Oversee the respiratory training programme, including induction, competency sign‑off and ongoing development.
- Maintain accurate training and competency records to support clinical governance and assurance.
Quality assurance and clinical governance
- Lead local respiratory QA processes, audits and clinical reviews.
- Participate in peer review processes and facilitate learning from audit findings, incidents and near‑misses.
- Support escalation of clinical or quality concerns through appropriate governance routes.
Reporting and assurance
- Provide regular service‑level reporting on activity, quality and performance.
- Contribute respiratory‑specific input into wider clinical governance reporting when required.
Professional practice
- Maintain relevant professional registration, CPD and clinical competence where applicable.
- Work collaboratively with clinical, operational and governance colleagues to support continuous improvement.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Clinical Physiology Degree (or Equivalent)
Experience
- Respiratory Physiologist with independent experience running PFT Sessions
