Quantitative trading firm is looking to hire a Junior Cyber Security Python Developer to join a high-performing security engineering team within a leading technology-driven environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with strong Python skills and an interest in cybersecurity to gain hands-on experience building tools that protect critical systems and infrastructure. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and security specialists, contributing to the development of automation, detection tooling, and data-driven security capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of Python-based tools for cybersecurity and monitoring
- Assist in automating manual security processes within SOC and engineering workflows
- Help build integrations between systems (e.g. logs, APIs, security tools)
- Contribute to log analysis and event investigation
- Work with data to identify unusual or suspicious behaviour
- Assist with the development and tuning of detection rules
- Support incident response and troubleshooting activities
- Collaborate with teams across security, infrastructure, and engineering
- Continuously learn and develop technical and security knowledge
Required Skills & Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in Python development (or strong academic + project experience)
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts (e.g. threats, vulnerabilities, attacks)
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S)
- Comfortable working in Linux or Unix environments
- Experience working with data (parsing, scripting, APIs, or logs)
- Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn
Desirable / Nice to Have
- Exposure to security tooling such as SIEM, EDR, or log management platforms
- Experience with any of the following Python libraries/tools:
- scapy / pyshark / dpkt (network traffic analysis)
- python‑evtx (Windows logs)
- Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Personal projects, labs, or CTF‑style challenges related to security
- Interest in areas such as threat detection, automation, or security analytics
