Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑focused Information Governance Officer to join our Information Governance (IG) team at Moorfields. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of the Trust’s Information Governance strategy, ensuring we meet our data protection, security, and compliance obligations across the organisation.

Note: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship without evidence of two years NHS experience (new entrant only).

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for information governance enquiries, some of which will be of a confidential nature, referring enquirers onward where appropriate.
  • Assist with the production and collation of evidence to support compliance with the Data Security & Protection Toolkit.
  • Monitor and coordinate requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, create performance reports, and raise issues to the Information Governance Manager as required.
  • Promote and raise staff awareness of information governance by planning, organising and delivering training programmes to staff at all levels of the organisation.
  • Create FOI performance reports against key performance indicators for the SIRO, Head of Information Governance and Information Governance Committee.
  • Assist the IG team in ensuring policies, procedures and learning materials are updated and maintained.
  • Assist the Trust’s Information Asset Owner and Information Asset Administrators by providing access to training and systems, and supporting maintenance of data flow mapping and information asset management.
  • Order and receive stock for the IG department.
  • Provide support for the Trust’s information asset management platform and keep entries regularly updated.
  • Maintain and log Information Governance and Caldicott enquiries and keep the team’s knowledge‑management database up to date.
  • Support the team with information governance incident investigations where required.
  • Monitor and update the Information Governance intranet pages.
  • Organise logistical arrangements for events, briefings, meetings and workshops, ensuring IG team members receive effective and efficient support.
  • Support coordination of information asset management, including Data Protection Impact Assessments for new and existing systems/processes, and organise meetings as appropriate.
  • Plan, organise and coordinate the Information Committee Governance meetings, preparing, collating and distributing meeting papers, maintaining action trackers, and taking minutes.
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Information Governance.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Information Governance team as required.
  • Work autonomously, proactively using initiative, prioritising workload and managing conflicting deadlines.
  • Travel to and from City Road to Moorfields satellite sites as required.
