Overview

Join us as a Pricing Actuary in our Property team to take your career to the next level with an international market leader. Our Actuaries quantify risk, price insurance and reserve losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies, globally. You will collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing and Risk Management to predict, manage and mitigate risk.

This role supports the UK Property business, providing pricing analysis and granular performance monitoring, primarily for the Real Estate portfolio. It is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced pricing actuary to grow within a dynamic and expanding sector, with exposure to a broad range of stakeholders, markets and products.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the UK & EMEA Property Business with actuarial and analytical support to profitably grow the business and take remedial action where needed.
  • Involve in technical pricing tool development, analysis, and enhancements using Python.
  • Work with underwriters to produce transactional pricing analysis for accounts within agreed timescales.
  • Report and analyse performance at a granular level using R so that underwriters can optimise performance.
  • Contribute to large transformation projects, such as rater development and enhancement in HX and development of rating models.
  • Monitor rates at renewal and new business in coordination with the actuarial pricing team; ensure pricing models are in place, reviewed regularly, and deviations are justified and consistent across regions.
  • Ensure data used for pricing and monitoring is complete, accurate, adequate and timely.
  • Lead profitability studies and business planning.
  • Train and mentor junior staff.
  • Comply with key regulatory and risk management procedures.
  • Adhere to European and matrix decision-making standards within the provided authorities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mathematics or related discipline.
  • Nearly or newly qualified Actuary.
  • Actuarial experience in Commercial Property, UK Real Estate or similar short-tail lines of business (preferred).
  • Strong coding skills in R and/or Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain actuarial concepts to non-specialists.
