Job summary
Join the Amber Valley Community Mental Health Team, based in Ripley, Derbyshire. The team delivers short‑term and long‑term interventions for adults with complex mental health needs in a supportive, forward‑thinking environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist mental health nursing interventions to adults with severe and enduring mental health needs within a community setting.
- Manage a defined caseload of service users, delivering recovery‑focused, person‑centred care.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments, risk assessments and develop and review care plans under the Care Programme Approach (CPA).
- Contribute to and support the team’s duty system, responding to urgent or unplanned needs.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining strong communication with colleagues, service users, carers and partner agencies.
- Act as a mentor and role model to junior staff and students, offering supervision and guidance.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with trust policies and professional standards.
- Support service users in their recovery journey, promoting independence, social inclusion and overall well‑being.
- Apply up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant NMC standards and ensure high standards of professional practice.
- Travel independently across the Derbyshire Dales area to meet the needs of the service.
Essential qualifications and experience
- Mental Health Nursing qualification.
- Post‑qualification experience in mental health.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Evidence of assessment skills and risk management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Nursing registration with the NMC.
Desirable qualifications and experience
- Experience working within a community team (CMHT).
- Evidence of group skills.
- Experience of mentorship/supervising staff.
- Experience of holding a caseload.
- Knowledge of trauma‑focused and EUPD interventions.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- ENB 998 or mentorship training.

Salary
£39,959 to £48,117 per annum, pro rata.
