Part‑time Specialty Doctor – Adult Inpatient Psychiatry
The post holder will work at the Sycamore Centre as a part‑time Specialty Doctor in Adult Inpatient Psychiatry based with the Grantham Crisis Team. They will work alongside a skilled multi‑disciplinary team providing general psychiatric care for adults through inpatient and urgent care pathways.
The post holder is expected to demonstrate a commitment to inpatient care development, keep up to date with training, and have NHS experience in a psychiatric setting.
Responsibilities
- Be part of a multi‑disciplinary team delivering services to patients under the care of the Grantham Crisis Team.
- Liaise with other professionals and agencies involved in patients’ care.
- Attend care‑planning meetings, ward rounds, risk assessments and referral meetings.
- See patients independently within the crisis team for psychiatric review.
- Uphold the transformation programme principles: trauma‑informed, relational and person‑centred care, and support teams in delivering the programme.
- Participate in postgraduate activities related to psychiatric services and meet CPD requirements.
- Participate in departmental studies and the medical/clinical audit process.
- Deputise for absent colleagues as required.
- Be mindful of and actively involved in current safeguarding practices.
- Assess and manage urgent and routine referrals.
- Support the crisis team MDT in managing complex patients through weekly MDT meetings and liaison with the wider system.
- Maintain accurate records as required.
- Contribute to service meetings, development of service strategy, in‑house training programmes, and the development of knowledge and skills within the service.
Qualifications
- Medical and clinical qualifications appropriate for a Specialty Doctor.
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with patients in a psychiatry setting within the NHS.
- Commitment to further development in inpatient care and keeping current with training.
- Strong CPD record and willingness to meet continuing professional development requirements.
- Availability for part‑time hours in line with team needs.
