Construction Assurance Manager (CAM)

Location: Align IPT – Maple Cross – Rickmansworth (Please ensure you are able to travel to this site before applying; this is a heavily site-based role.)

Salary: £50,119 to £58,963 per annum, depending on skills and experience. In addition, a flexible benefits fund of 20% is paid on top of base salary and is fully pensionable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Construction Assurance Manager in undertaking constructability assurance, adopting a risk‑based approach.
  • Provide specialist advice and expertise throughout the construction process to HS2 Project Managers.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety tours and other site‑based HS2 safety practices.
  • Support the NEC3 Supervisor and Project Manager in discharging contractual duties.
  • Assist teams in ensuring works comply with U&A, environmental minimum requirements and Code of Construction Practice.
  • Manage cross‑contract interfaces related to constructability.
  • Assist with the HS2 CDM Assurance Process to enable release of the Hold Point Release Letter.
  • Promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work and support organisational initiatives.
  • Behaviourally demonstrate HS2 values of Safety, Leadership, Integrity and Respect.
  • Assure the installation of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) for tunnels, ventilation and intervention shafts and portal buildings.

Required Skills

  • Problem‑solving: identify problems, review information, evaluate options and implement solutions while managing competing demands.
  • Decision quality: synthesize information, identify options and apply sound judgement using facts and data.
  • Building relationships: establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.

Knowledge and Experience

  • NEC3 contract and supervisor responsibilities, and general management principles within matrix organisations.
  • UK construction regulations – CDM and construction safety management requirements.
  • Site‑based processes and procedures for health, safety and environmental management.
  • Risk identification and management.
  • Construction planning and monitoring progress against a project programme.
  • Degree‑level qualification in civil engineering, construction or building science or equivalent experience.
  • Large‑scale civil engineering projects, with demonstrated experience in assuring MEP installation for tunnels, ventilation, intervention shafts and portal buildings.
