Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Highways Division

Location: Peterborough (Surrounding areas)

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + Car Allowance & Bonus

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team delivering highways maintenance projects across Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a long‑term infrastructure programme focused on maintaining and improving the local road network.

You will play a key role in commercial management, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all commercial aspects of highways maintenance projects
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts
  • Administer contracts in line with NEC (or similar) conditions
  • Assess, manage, and process subcontractor payments
  • Monitor project costs and identify risks/opportunities
  • Prepare and agree interim valuations and final accounts
  • Support procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and client requirements
  • Provide regular financial reporting to senior management

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within highways or infrastructure maintenance
  • Good understanding of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4 preferred)
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain relationships
  • Proficient in cost management and reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Membership of RICS or working towards chartership (desirable)
