Air Conditioning Installation & Service Engineer (Self-Employed / Subcontractor)

Location: Sussex & surrounding areas

Job Type: Self-employed / Subcontractor

Earnings: £250 – £325 per day (negotiable)

We are open to consider applications requiring an employed role. In this instance a salary of IRO of £40-42k available

About the Role

We are looking for a hardworking, dedicated, and experienced Air Conditioning installation and service engineer to join our team. Our company supplies, installs & maintains air conditioning and ventilation systems within Sussex and the surrounding South East areas. Our works are primarily in commercial settings with established businesses, as well as state settings such as Schools & Colleges. As such we are looking for a punctual, well presented individual, who takes care in their work to join us.

Candidates should be familiar with installing & maintaining split systems, multi-split & VRF/VRV systems, as well as having familiarity working on ventilation systems such as HRUs and AHUs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, servicing, and maintenance of air conditioning & HVAC systems
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs efficiently and safely
  • Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and industry standards
  • Working independently or as part of a team depending on project requirements
  • Where necessary liaising with clients and internal teams to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Completing service reports and ensuring accurate maintenance information is documented to ensure compliance
  • Identifying opportunities for system improvements or upgrades, and/or new installation requirements
  • Ensuring all works are completed to a high standard

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Air Conditioning Engineer or similar HVAC role
  • F‑Gas certification (e.g., City & Guilds 2079 Categories 1-2 or equivalent)
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
  • Must be willing to travel to different locations including within the same day, primarily in Sussex but also the wider south‑east area
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Full UK driving licence (required)
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
