Category Manager – Tools
Location: Midlands (hybrid)
£50,000 – £60,000
The Role:
This isn’t a reporting role. It’s ownership.
You’ll take full responsibility for a defined product category within a major UK distributor, shaping the range, managing suppliers, and driving commercial performance across a large B2B customer base.
You’ll be expected to make decisions, not just recommendations.
What you’ll be doing:
Own category strategy end-to-end
Manage and negotiate with key suppliers
Build commercially effective product ranges
Drive margin, pricing and promotional activity
Use data to identify opportunities and act on them
Work closely with sales, marketing and operations
What they’re looking for:
Experience in category management, buying or a commercial role
Background in tools or a related sector
Strong commercial instinct and understanding of margin drivers
Comfortable using data but not reliant on spreadsheets alone
Able to challenge both suppliers and internal stakeholders
Someone who wants ownership, not just a job title
The business:
A well-established UK distributor supplying materials and services, operating at scale across B2B customers.
They’ve got the infrastructure and customer base in place. The focus now is strengthening category leadership to unlock further growth.
Why this role:

Ability to shape category direction
Visible impact on performance
A role that goes beyond maintaining the status quo
