About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver upgrades and modifications to Transmission substation protection & control systems, working directly on National Grid and wider UK Transmission & Distribution projects.

You will manage multiple engineering projects ranging from £50k to £2m, ensuring delivery to time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction. This hybrid role requires regular attendance at our Staffordshire office and occasional travel to customer sites.

⭐ Key Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of Transmission & Distribution engineering projects
• Manage budgets, schedules, risks and commercial performance
• Oversee subcontractors and multi‑disciplinary engineering teams
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety requirements
• Hold progress meetings with clients and stakeholders
• Support bids, proposals and future business development
• Build strong customer relationships through excellent delivery

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong engineering background (electrical, power systems or similar)
• Proven project management experience in Transmission, Distribution or similar regulated engineering sectors
• NEC3/NEC4 contract experience is essential
• Skilled in planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project
• Commercially astute with strong risk management capability
• Experience managing subcontractors and engineering teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
• Must live within a commutable distance of Staffordshire

Desirable

• Experience with project proposals and bid work
• APM Practitioner or equivalent project management qualification
• Knowledge of protection & control systems or substation automation
