Job Description:

Field Service Engineer

You will be working on industrial shredding systems that sit at the centre of recycling operations, production lines and secure destruction environments. When these machines stop, entire processes stop. Your role is to keep them running.

You will be part of a growing service function supporting equipment installed across the UK, with responsibility for maintaining performance, diagnosing faults and returning critical machinery to operation under pressure. This is a role for an engineer who wants ownership, autonomy and real technical accountability.

You can be located anywhere in the West Midlands.

Role Overview

You will install, commission and maintain industrial shredding systems across customer sites, working in demanding environments where reliability is essential. The role combines planned maintenance, fault finding and breakdown response on heavy duty equipment.

When not on the road, you will work alongside the Senior Engineer at the new West Midlands service centre, supporting workshop activity, preparing machines for deployment and contributing to the build out of a new regional capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, diagnostics, inspections and repairs on industrial shredding systems
  • Install and commission equipment on customer sites to required standards
  • Diagnose faults quickly and take ownership through to full resolution
  • Provide on site technical support and build strong working relationships with customers
  • Operate safely across recycling facilities, manufacturing sites and industrial environments
  • Prepare machines and components for dispatch or site installation
  • Carry out workshop based repairs and refurbishment work
  • Support the setup and organisation of the new service centre
  • Manage stock levels of key spare parts and consumables

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in field service, maintenance or installation of industrial equipment
  • Strong mechanical engineering capability with working electrical knowledge
  • Confident fault finding on heavy machinery or rotating equipment
  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload across multiple sites
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments under pressure
  • Clear and professional communication with customers on site
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

Package

  • Salary £37,000
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x standard hourly rate
  • 29 days annual leave
  • Pension and healthcare
  • Company healthcare plan
  • Company vehicle, credit card and all required tools provided

If you are an engineer who takes pride in solving problems properly, working independently and keeping critical equipment running, this is a role where you will be trusted to deliver
