Job Description:
About Us
Select Alloys & Materials Ltd is a family run business specialising in the purchase and sale of Nickel and Cobalt based superalloys for the aerospace and industrial gas turbine industries. Our materials are destined for re-melting into high specification components used in investment casting, alongside refinery grade scrap metals traded across a global network.
As the business continues to grow and we settle into our new warehouse facility, we are evolving our management structure to ensure our operations are supported by clear, effective, and people focused leadership.
The Role
Following a planned warehouse restructure and the continued development of our operations, we are recruiting an experienced Works Manager to lead our works and warehouse function.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for the smooth, safe and efficient running of day to day operations. The Works Manager plays an important part in setting standards, supporting teams, and ensuring the site runs well – balancing operational requirements with a fair and approachable management style.
You will work closely with senior management and departmental leads, taking ownership of people management, health & safety, organisation and continuous improvement across the works operation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and supporting the day to day running of warehouse and works operations
- Managing production teams and supervisors, promoting a positive and consistent working environment
- Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed, embedded and maintained across the site
- Supporting internal and external audits, including health & safety and operational compliance
- Planning workloads and priorities to meet business needs without unnecessary disruption
- Maintaining strong housekeeping, organisation and site standards
- Identifying practical improvements to processes, layout and ways of working
- Working closely with senior management to support wider operational objectives
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced operational leader with a calm, fair and approachable leadership style, who is confident managing people in a production environment and maintaining high standards.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience managing teams of 20+ people, both directly and indirectly, within a production or warehouse environment
- Experience liaising with auditors and supporting the General Manager during shop-floor and operational audits
- A sound understanding of health & safety and compliance within an industrial setting
- The ability to deal confidently with day-to-day operational issues, prioritise workloads and make balanced, practical decisions
Previous experience within Nickel and Cobalt superalloys is advantageous but not essential.
What You’ll Get
- £45,000 – £50,000 per year, negotiable for an outstanding candidate
- Generous Quarterly & Annual bonus schemes
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Vitality membership
- Life insurance
- On-site gym
- Holiday reward scheme
- Free on‑site parking
- A key leadership role within a stable, growing business
- The opportunity to shape how a works operation is run as part of an evolving management structure
