Job Description:

Manufacturing Engineering Manager | Hybrid | South Cambridge | Up to £70,000

I am currently recruiting for a well‑established engineering consultancy delivering complex product development programmes across multiple industries. As their project portfolio continues to grow, they’re looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to strengthen their capability across electronics and mechanical product delivery.

This is a hands‑on leadership role focused on bridging R&D and manufacturing. You’ll play a key role in ensuring products move efficiently from prototype through to scalable production, while building and developing a high‑performing team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) input across engineering projects
  • Supporting the transition of complex electronic and mechanical products into production
  • Managing and coordinating external supply chain partners and contract manufacturers
  • Driving improvements in manufacturing processes, tools, and best practices
  • Supporting bids and proposals with manufacturing insight
  • Working closely with project managers and technical teams to deliver programmes
  • Assessing supplier performance and resolving quality or delivery issues
  • Leading and developing a small team of engineers and technical specialists

Required skills:

  • Strong experience in manufacturing engineering within an electronics or RF‑led environment
  • Background working across the full product development lifecycle
  • Good understanding of electronics manufacturing processes (e.g. SMT, PCB assemblies)
  • Experience managing suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, client‑facing environment
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams

You’ll be working out of their South Cambridge office, on a hybrid basis (3 days onsite, 2 days WFH). This role will also include some occasional travel (once a month) to visit customer sites. The salary on offer for this role is up to £70,000 (DOE), plus benefits.
