In this pivotal leadership role, you will shape, develop, and implement technically robust strategies to support UK-wide Mechanical Engineering teams and contribute to Jacobs' long-term UK and European growth strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop technical and engineering capabilities, challenge existing practices, and embed innovative ways of working.
- Set and maintain robust discipline governance, including technical standards, assurance processes, and continuous improvement.
- Manage risk, change management, and technical oversight at every stage of delivery.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive culture—mentoring and developing talent to enable both personal and professional growth with clear career pathways.
- Promote knowledge‑sharing, driving consistency and accessibility of guidance, tools, and best practices.
- Support technical teams by helping to resolve complex project, delivery, and assurance challenges.
Qualifications
- Chartered Mechanical Engineer (CEng).
- Demonstrable track record in creating and driving innovation.
- Comfortable mentoring, coaching, and developing colleagues and teams, ensuring growth of capability footprint whilst providing clear and structured career growth.
- Extensive experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions within regulated infrastructure environments, such as the water industry.
- Recognised subject matter expert and technical authority in systems and subsystems such as pumping stations, skid systems, dosing systems, tanks, and treatment processes (preliminary, primary, secondary, tertiary), etc.
- Proven ability to provide technical oversight, resolve complex engineering challenges, and support critical projects.
