Location & Working Pattern

Location: Remote working with regular travel to Yorkshire Water sites, typically two days per week. A full valid UK driving licence (no more than 6 points) is essential.

Work type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Role Overview

Senior Project Engineer in the Asset Delivery team, responsible for providing technical supervision, line management, and coordinated delivery of engineered MEICA projects within the Specialist Projects portfolio, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, YW Engineering specifications, and safety/health standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical supervision and line management of Project Technicians
  • Technically manage and coordinate the design and safe delivery of engineered MEICA projects
  • Ensure delivery of all projects complies with CDM regulation requirements, acting as Principal Contractor and supporting the Client & Principal Designer
  • Ensure adherence to YW Engineering specification and associated documentation
  • Drive excellent standards and performance in health & safety, risk management and work control, complying with YW safety Policy
  • Ensure robust financial management and commercial awareness in all business decisions

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Process based apprenticeship, Engineering degree or equivalent
  • ONC/HNC/BTEC in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Process Engineering
  • Understanding of control of works principles – Permits, POWRA, RAMS, etc.
  • Broad experience with electrical, ICA, mechanical and process equipment to produce engineered solutions
  • Thorough understanding of CDM regulations and practical application
  • Understanding of design and project delivery process including hazard identification, risk assessment and site supervision
  • Ability to respond to a wide range of technical and non‑technical detailed queries
  • Experience with ATEX standards

Desirable Experience

  • Working in a regulated utility or major asset management / delivery with a wide-ranging asset base
  • Previous experience in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment
  • SMSTS trained
  • Knowledge of water‑industry equipment (high pressure/temperature waste processing, chemical systems, gas processing, high voltage equipment)
