Equans Sci-Tech is seeking a Planner to be based on a project site in Bradford to assist the delivery of our projects. The Planner will have strong NEC contract management experience with civil engineering projects. The role will provide professional planning services in every stage of the project lifecycle from tender, through to design, construction and commissioning and will monitor the delivery of complex civil engineering projects within the NEC contractual framework. The successful candidate will work alongside the project teams, contracts and stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient execution while maintaining compliance with NEC requirements.
What you will deliver?
- Develop, maintain and update detailed project schedules aligned with NEC contract requirements and Civils work project specifications.
- Provide planning services as a key part of the project team ensuring the teams are delivering on project time objectives.
- Ensure compliance with NEC4 planning, reporting, and early warning procedures; prepare and maintain Programme submissions and impact assessments.
- Build strong internal and external relationships with the Planning department and broader project and client teams.
- Communicate with other disciplines within production teams to ensure they are aware of their roles in meeting the programme.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and planning standards.
- Provide detailed and accurate regular progress reporting to the project team and client as required.
- Summarise projects status upstream to senior management, highlighting any unresolved major risks and potential overruns.
- Manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met. Highlight any potential work overload/slackening to Line Manager as soon as it is apparent.
- Review processes to enhance planning best practice that can aid and improve performance and consistency across the project teams and wider planning community.
- Be part of programme meetings and react quickly to any client‑led changes, ensuring that there are auditable trails.
- Review projects that have deviated from plan and provide advice on plans and strategy, subsequent cause and effect and contribute to decisions as to the best way forward.

Who are we looking for?
- Proven experience as a Planner with civil engineering projects within the construction or engineering sectors
- Significant experience as a Planner/Senior Planner/Lead Planner on major construction or infrastructure projects, ideally under NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
- Planning software expertise, preferably in P6 and Asta Powerproject.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of a project lifecycle: design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues and to listen and capture concerns of others.
- Attention to Health and Safety matters.
- Strong commercial awareness, especially relating to time/cost/risk interplay on NEC contracts.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel for use in dashboard reporting.
- A strategic approach, whilst communicating effectively, making decisions with confidence and getting the best out of others.
