DISAUTHORITY is an independent, artist-led post production company which is borderline obsessed with championing filmmakers and original storytelling. From early development through to final delivery, we provide high-quality post-production services that help bring creative visions to life. We work collaboratively across each project, focused on creative excellence, regardless of the scope of the work.
Role Description
The Post Production Engineer is a full-time role supporting the maintenance and development of the company’s I.T infrastructure – through a combination of back-end technical and front-end hands‑on maintenance and engineering support.
The post production engineer will report to the Head of Post, who leads on the company’s R&D (research & development), workflow design & development, training, quality control and NLE technical expertise amongst other tasks.
The role of the engineer will be holistic due to the specific nature of the company’s requirements. They will be responsible for the technical upkeep of hardware and systems in the machine rooms (MCRs) – which include computers, storage (i.e servers/RAIDs), network switches, cabling etc. Equipment used by technical and operational staff – including monitors, peripherals, audio equipment, printers. Additionally, the engineer will look after in‑office equipment such as CCTV cameras, phones, digital room signage, keycard/security systems, and other quality‑of‑life technology in and throughout the Clerkenwell and Croydon facility sites.
In addition to ongoing maintenance and technical upkeep of systems and equipment, the engineer will also be able to troubleshoot a mixture of wide‑ranging and niche hardware and software faults when they occur on‑site. Whilst our systems function well and (are designed to be efficient and scalable) inevitable faults may occur which are time‑critical to be resolved due to creatives and admin relying on them throughout the working day. Anything specific they are unable to resolve, they should report to the HOP to call‑on specific engineers / technicians.
In an increasingly cyber‑world in a globalised media industry, understanding the importance of Data Security and Redundancy is paramount. The engineer will be expected to maintain data security and ensure data has a strong element of redundancy built‑in. Innovation in this field is encouraged. The engineer will be jointly responsible to the Head of Post, and Managing Director Marcus Hundsnes on matters concerning data security and redundancy.
Finally, the post production engineer will keep abreast of technological trends and developments; including an awareness of software/firmware updates, new product releases, and be able to make recommendations to the Head of Post for purchasing, implementation and deployment as time goes on. They will be self‑sufficient in handling minor (machine) installs and upgrades themselves, and coordinate larger installations in line with the Head of Post’s vision for the department whilst also remaining accountable.
We expect the Post Production Engineer to have a strong background in I.T, with a particular interest and understanding in I.T, technical and imaging pipelines. They will understand the flow of data, the needs of operators/staff concerning data access and throughput, resource allocation, the importance of round‑the‑clock security – the combination of which ultimately contributes to the smooth‑running of the business from our staff and in‑house clients, to external clients, remote staff & freelancers and stakeholders at all levels.
The candidate will be at a unique advantage if they understand colour and imaging pipelines, as we are a Picture Finishing Facility – picture is everything. They will also be at an advantage if they understand codecs, video standards & formats, cameras and varieties of recordable media, and will also be at an advantage if they have worked at a TPN‑certified company, in an engineering/data capacity, as we are in pursuit of facility‑wide TPN certification in 2026.
