Product Development Chemist

Location: Telford (Must have driving licence and own transport due to location)

Duration: Permanent

Hours: Monday-Friday (onsite) – Days

Package: Up to £50,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Product Development Chemist to join an innovative manufacturer within the construction materials sector. This is a hands‑on, laboratory‑based position focused on the development and improvement of eco‑friendly dry and liquid products.

You will play a key role in product innovation, formulation development, and technical testing, ensuring all products meet required quality, performance, and sustainability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and formulate new products and materials to meet customer and market requirements
  • Improve and optimise existing formulations for performance, cost effectiveness, and sustainability
  • Conduct laboratory trials and testing on raw materials and finished products
  • Work closely with technical and production teams to scale laboratory developments to manufacturing level
  • Record, analyse, and interpret test results, maintaining accurate technical documentation
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and, where required, customers
  • Keep up to date with new materials, technologies, and industry developments

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in product development, R&D / Innovation / Product Development or formulation of dry and wet products
  • Strong practical laboratory skills with a high level of attention to detail and safety
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving ability
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
  • Due to location own transport and driving licence will be essential
