Battery Test Engineer – Automotive & Energy Testing
Location: Aberdare, Wales
Salary: up to £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
The Role
As Battery Test Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of complex battery testing programmes, working closely with internal technical teams and customers to ensure accurate, reliable results. Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and executing established and complex battery testing procedures
- Preparing clear, accurate and well‑structured technical test reports
- Collaborating with engineering and technical teams to ensure correct test setup and alignment with requirements
- Providing technical input to support the development of new testing and operational capabilities
- Supplying timely and accurate information to support effective project planning and delivery
- Maintaining exceptional health and safety standards, including developing and implementing new procedures
- Supporting and participating in customer‑witnessed testing to deliver robust insights and results
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong engineering foundation and hands‑on battery testing experience, along with a proactive and collaborative mindset. You will ideally have:
- A BSc in an engineering discipline, with relevant professional qualifications
- Experience designing, building and testing battery test solutions
- Strong knowledge of electronics and battery related test equipment
- Experience with CAN communication systems and integrated vehicle data logging
- Ability to analyse and automate test data using tools such as Vector, MATLAB/Simulink, C and Excel
- Qualification and experience working with high voltage DC automotive systems
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively under tight deadlines
- A collaborative, team focused approach and the ability to remain calm in a dynamic, fast changing environment
