Compliance Oversight Manager
Location: London, Cardiff, or UK Remote.
Salary: £71,400 – £90,300 (depending on experience) + incentive awards tied to performance + benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Monzo’s Whistleblowing (Speaking Up) process, including supporting the Compliance Director and Whistleblowing Champion in dealing with confidential matters.
- Liaise with whistleblowers and subjects in a confidential manner.
- Triage and investigate cases to completion.
- Maintain the Whistleblowing policy, process and training.
- Compile periodic reporting to the Board on the effectiveness of Monzo’s Whistleblowing process.
- Produce compliance related reporting for Monzo’s Executive and Board Risk Committees, including compiling the monthly Compliance Report.
- Provide 2LoD oversight and SME advice on employee‑related compliance matters, including SMCR, Conduct Rules, Market Abuse and Conflicts of Interest.
- Provide compliance input on the creation and review of Conduct Risk related training for Monzo.
- Oversee Monzo’s identification and management of regulatory change working with the Compliance Advice Team.
- Collaborate with the wider Compliance team in creating and updating compliance policies and procedures to reflect current regulatory requirements.
- Provide 2LoD support and oversight on Regulatory Breach and Incident management.
- Explore new ways to streamline, automate and enhance Monzo’s approach to compliance.
- Deliver continuous improvement to the function and help create a compliance “centre of excellence”.
- Support delivery of wider assurance activity through targeted assurance reviews and compliance monitoring.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience of leading Whistleblowing investigations, maintaining associated processes and providing compliance expertise on employee‑related compliance matters.
- Experience working in the compliance or audit function within a regulated financial services environment, including investigation experience.
- Working knowledge of the FCA Handbook (particularly SYSC and SMCR).
- Working knowledge of the role of the Risk and Compliance function.
- Self‑motivated, highly organised and focused on executing well.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to improve existing processes to boost efficiency, including through use of new technology.
- Ability to build strong, mutually respectful relationships with diverse teams.
- Genuine interest in compliance and recognition of its competitive advantage at Monzo.
- Enthusiasm for the future of banking and a desire to shape it.
- Enthusiasm for using data and technology to grow compliance effectiveness.
- Experience in compliance assurance and monitoring is beneficial.
