Technical Manager

Steele Charles is proud to be partnering with a well-established, family-owned food manufacturing business to recruit a Technical Manager.

With over 50 years of heritage, our client is a respected player within high-risk, supplying a strong and loyal customer base.

The Role

Reporting to the Factory Manager, you will lead the technical function on site—ensuring food safety, quality, and compliance across all materials and finished products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead site HACCP and ensure robust food safety controls
• Maintain and develop the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Ensure audit readiness (BRC, retailer standards including M&S)
• Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement
• Manage customer audits, site visits, and technical relationships
• Lead and develop the QA and technical team
• Oversee laboratory operations and quality KPIs
• Deliver training across food safety and quality standards

About You:

• Proven Technical/Quality leadership experience in food manufacturing
• Level 4 HACCP and Advanced Food Hygiene (or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of UK retailer standards and audits
• A confident leader with excellent communication skills
• Skilled in problem-solving and continuous improvement
