The Programme and Project Partners (PPP) at Sellafield brings together KBR, Amentum, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, Altrad Babcock, Sellafield Ltd as the client, and a wider supply chain to deliver a 20-year pipeline of major infrastructure projects.

The PPP Start Up Capability (Commissioning & Pre-Operations) play a vital part in all the projects by ensuring our new-build or modified plants are transitioned to safe and reliable operations. With several major projects already in-flight and other projects in the pipeline now is a great time to join PPP and drive your career forward.

We are looking for a person with a proven operational background (ideally in Nuclear) to lead a multi-disciplined Team. The team will provide input to the design process based on knowledge and learning, input to the training requirements of future facility end users and deliver the “operational quality management system” (e.g. Maintenance/Operator instructions, COSHH,PUWER, Pressure regs) to enable the project to hand over the facility to the End User. You would work collaboratively with developers, design engineers, production managers, end users and human factors experts to make our facility user-friendly.

Role:

The pre-operations managers role is to support and leads the team through:

  • Input O&M learning into project processes (Design, HAZOP, Risk, Contract, Schedule and Estimate).
  • Implement Pre-Operations allocated work-scope in accordance with the respective management system.
  • Supporting a proactive and balanced approach to safety (nuclear, radiological, conventional and environmental) to ensure that safety is optimised.

Responsibilities:

  • Interfaces with internal / external regulators and stakeholders.
  • Provides input to the Design process for operability, maintainability and commissionability of the plant and equipment.
  • Subject Matter Expert in specific areas to support Document production, Training development processes, maintenance and asset care arrangements.
  • Supports delivery of disciplined operations and maintenance.
  • Assist commissioning tests in accordance with working level instruction.
  • May hold nominated roles.

Reports to the Head Of Commissioning

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 3 qualification in relevant discipline and able to present qualification certification.
  • Ability to lead and manage the plan work schedule
  • Current passport holder.
  • Computer literate (MS applications including Word, Excel and Visio) with evidence of producing plans and reports.
  • Ability to understand and read design engineering documentation and drawings
  • Able to travel to on occasion and as required to other work locations such as Risley and works test facilities.

Desirables:

  • HNC/Level 4 qualification in relevant discipline and able to present qualification certification.
  • IEng professional registration with Engineering Council.
  • P4 Pass Holder.
  • Monitored worker status for unescorted access to SIXEP facility.
  • SC Clearance
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Behavioural:

    Able to work collaboratively with all levels of the organisation to achieve successful project output/outcomes.

    Ability to work autonomously – including remotely from team.

    Challenging attitude – willingness to intervene if observing unsafe acts or non-compliance – prepared to have the difficult conversation.
