Scope is a leading disability-focused charity that strives for disability equality and is looking for a Head of Finance to lead its finance function and support strategic decision making.
About the role
The role supports delivery of Scope’s strategic priorities by ensuring strong financial control, high-quality data, and efficient finance and procurement services.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a high‑performing finance function.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
- Provide accurate management reporting to support decision‑making.
- Lead statutory reporting and audits.
- Maintain financial policies, procedures and delegated authority frameworks.
- Support development of the charity’s financial strategy.
- Provide insight to the Executive Leadership Team, Leadership Team, Committees and Board of Trustees.
- Drive change, improving financial systems, processes and ways of working.
- Assess financial impact, risks and opportunities of new proposals.
- Develop, support and motivate finance colleagues.
- Act as a senior leader modeling collaborative, inclusive, values‑led leadership.
Qualifications
- Recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Senior‑level experience in a finance leadership role within an organization of similar scale and complexity.
- Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial control.
- Experience leading and developing teams during periods of change.
- Strong analytical, financial and commercial skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and influence at senior level.
- Collaborative leadership style, high emotional intelligence and sound judgement.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in the charity or not‑for‑profit sector.
- Understanding of the social model of disability.
- Knowledge of charity fundraising models, risks and controls.
- Experience leading finance systems improvements or implementations.
- Experience in retail or trading finance operations.
