Hybrid working – based within commutable distance of our Northampton or Bridgwater offices
Toolstation, part of the Travis Perkins Group, is one of the UK’s fastest growing retailers with a wave of impressive sales and a record-breaking year. But we’re not slowing down. Our Trade and DIY customers are working smarter, and we need to be even more agile in how we serve them. That means scaling fast and continuing our transformation into a customer-first, omni-channel retailer, seamlessly integrating online, mobile, and physical stores.
Behind every great customer experience is great availability – and that’s where you come in.
This is a senior role where you will own the business forecast, covering both the outcomes and the methods of achieving them. Leading a team of seven and reporting to the Head of Supply chain, you’ll play a crucial part in our business transformation, operating new processes and leveraging a new system.
What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- S&OP Leadership: Taking ownership of the Toolstation Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
- Forecasting & Reporting: Leading demand forecasting for all SKUs and managing promotional planning, control, and reporting using Slim4.
- Range Control: Maintaining proposition maintenance and fulfilment channel control, as well as driving proposition development.
- Performance Management: Monitoring the main KPIs, specifically Forecast Accuracy and Forecast Bias.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Working collaboratively with the Category team to reach consensus demand, with Supply Planning to consider constraints, and with the Customer Team to gain insight on promotional activity.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be a leader who is commercially aware and confident in using data to own and challenge decisions. You will lead the team in “how” to operate by sharing best practice and demonstrating strong Demand Planning Expertise. Ideally you will have used a demand forecasting application such as Slim 4 or similar and be technically proficient.
- Leadership & Coaching: The ability to support and develop team members to deliver KPI performance and personal growth.
- Collaboration: Experience facilitating the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process by gathering intelligence from sales, marketing, and finance to reach a consensus plan.
- Commercial Persuasion: The crucial ability to “challenge without authority”, often pushing back on over-optimistic commercial requests with data-backed reality checks
- Conflict Resolution: Skill in guiding your team and stakeholders to ensure alignment
- Empathy: You’ll see team members as individuals and be able to identify, support and respond to their needs
- Attributes: Customer-focused, curious, and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset.
What you’ll get
You’ll find every opportunity to be yourself and to bring your personality and potential to work. You’ll find a business where you can develop a fulfilling career, wherever you want – up the ladder or across the group. You’ll also be rewarded with a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with the role, contributory pension, BAYE and SAYE schemes, life assurance and discounts off Travis Perkins businesses and a range of other affiliate partners.
Our policy is to employ the best qualified people and provide equal opportunity for the advancement of employees including promotion and training and not to discriminate against any person because of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, belief or disability.
