Thorn Baker Recruitment have the exciting opportunity to recruit for a Commercial Finance Manager for our client based in the Bingham area of Nottingham.

About the Role

We are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to take ownership of the financial operations while playing a key role in supporting business decision‑making.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who is keen to go beyond traditional finance responsibilities, contribute to business performance, and identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage accurate financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  • Analyse financial data to support strategic business decisions.
  • Identify and implement cost‑saving initiatives across the business.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and processes.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Manage cash flow, forecasting, and working capital.
  • Monitor project financials, including cost control, margin analysis, and risk management.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior finance team members.
  • Continuously review and improve financial processes and procedures.

About You

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting standards.
  • Experience working within an SME or within an industry environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proven track record of producing clear and concise management information.
  • Experience implementing and improving financial processes.
  • Proactive, hands‑on approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Confident in identifying and resolving issues.
