The Role

As a Senior Cyber Security Consultant, you will provide subject matter expertise and critical support to MOD Security stakeholders on a novel Programme. Day‑to‑day, you will deliver security subject matter knowledge across a range of areas and advise on the security implications of System Change Requests.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Maintaining security risk assessments and Secure by Design artefacts for systems through life assurance
  • Maintaining relevant Codes of Connections to ensure continued approvals for such connections
  • Identifying and assessing the potential impact of amendments to MoD or HMG policy on the Programme whilst maintaining knowledge of current MoD and HMG security requirements
  • Supporting the SyM as required to produce security reports for agreed meetings and managing the quarterly Security Working Groups
  • Providing advice on the patching of systems, including monitoring MODCERTS and other sources of patching and vulnerability information
  • Developing and delivering security training to the programme and supporting the Programme in maintaining technical crypto management documents

Essential experience for the Senior Cyber Security Consultant

  • Previous experience working in an information security role in a MoD environment
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortability working in a multi‑disciplinary team with the ability to work with others
  • The ability to manage your own tasks and time liaising effectively
  • In‑depth understanding and evidence of applying the NIST Cyber Security Framework or a relevant similar framework
  • Broad knowledge of IT Security architecture and IT security vulnerabilities and their countermeasures
  • Previous experience in producing information security risk assessments and through‑life risk management and continuous assurance
  • Previous experience in managing IT Health checks, interpreting findings and managing Risk Treatment Plans

Essential qualifications for the Senior Cyber Security Consultant

  • Cyber Council Chartered, legacy certification (e.g. CESG Certified Cyber Security Professional) or equivalent experience
