About the role

We are looking for an EPC project manager to support the delivery of this project.

You will be expected to travel to operational and delivery sites throughout your working week, based on project demands. The role will be based out of our project office in Waltham Abbey, with the need to be on site a number of times a week; therefore ability to travel is essential.

About you

  • Strong stakeholder management and organisational skills, with experience of resolving technical queries.
  • Experience in effective communication and disseminating scheme status throughout the management chain.
  • Project development and delivery experience of complex high‑value projects, safely, on time and to budget.
  • Ability to support and mentor the team to develop capability and ensure resilience.
  • Proficient knowledge of the application of CDM.
  • Proficient knowledge of NEC/EPC contracts.
  • Knowledge of substations or overhead lines is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of UK transmission system engineering is advantageous.

What you’ll do

  • Facilitate the technical interface between National Grid and contractors, ensuring collaboration, technical query resolution and completion of engineering.
  • Develop, support, sanction and deliver the optimal solution, ensuring best value to the consumer.
  • Lead or support the investment process during pre‑construction, delivery and closure for projects of varying complexity, ensuring governance is maintained throughout.
  • Ensure internal and contractor compliance with Health & Safety, CDM & Environmental legislation and National Grid SHES standards.
  • Enact or support the role of Client’s Delegated Representative and, where appropriate, Principal Designer, or arrange for the provision of a Principal Designer for each project as required under CDM Regulations.
  • Assess the need and appoint FEED support, monitor and control activities to provide an optimal compliant solution in a timely manner.
  • Work as part of a team with other Project Managers and Lead Project Managers.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager in engaging OFGEM, providing information and composing briefing and regulatory documents to support project assessment.
  • Provide regular project status reports giving accurate financial forecasting, SHESQ performance, milestone progress and risk management data.
  • Act as or support the NEC Project Manager (or equivalent for other contract types).
  • Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through positive engagement, proactively avoiding issues and managing third‑party matters, land consents, grantors, public relations and local community stakeholder relationships to preserve National Grid’s reputation.
  • Where relevant, lead, manage and coordinate the preparation and submission of a compliant Development Consent Order (DCO) application.
