Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the development of a local Area Improvement Plan for SEND. This role will focus on bringing together a wide range of existing documentation, data, and partner input into a coherent, strategic improvement plan.
The successful candidate will be skilled at gathering, analysing, and synthesising information from multiple sources, engaging partners across education, health, and social care, and translating complex material into clear, well‑structured templates and improvement plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of a comprehensive SEND Area Improvement Plan, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and local strategic objectives.
- Collate, review, and integrate core documents including:
- SEND Self‑Evaluation Framework (SEF)
- SEND service and performance documentation
- Finance plans and data from the past five years
- Relevant service strategies and transformation plans
- Engage in meaningful consultation with partners, including education, social care, health, parent/carer representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration between partners to ensure shared ownership of the plan.
- Translate a wide range of documents and feedback into agreed templates and planning frameworks.
- Manage timelines to ensure delivery of a final version by 19th June.
- Provide clear progress updates and recommendations as needed.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of SEND systems, local area responsibilities, and improvement frameworks.
- Proven experience producing high‑quality strategic plans or area improvement documents.
- Ability to gather and interpret complex information from diverse sources.
- Excellent partnership‑working and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and written communication skills.
- Confidence working independently with minimal supervision.
Working Arrangements
- Start: ASAP
- Time commitment: 1–2 days per week
- Onsite requirement: 1–2 days onsite as needed
- Day rate: £450+ per day
