Frontend Developer – Defence Tech Start-Up (High-Impact | Secure Systems)
We’re working with an ambitious defence technology start-up building next-generation software to support critical national security operations. Their products sit at the intersection of data, intelligence, and real-time decision-making — where performance, usability, and reliability are non-negotiable.
They’re looking for a Frontend Developer who can build intuitive, high-performance interfaces for complex systems used in mission-critical environments.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of the frontend experience across key platforms, designing and building interfaces that enable users to interact with highly complex data in real time. This is not standard web dev — the challenge is simplifying complexity without losing depth or performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design intuitive UIs for complex, data-heavy systems
- Work closely with backend engineers, data teams, and end users to shape product direction
- Handle real-time data visualisation and interaction
- Optimise applications for speed, responsiveness, and reliability in critical environments
- Contribute to frontend architecture and best practices
Core Requirements
- Proven ability to build complex, data-driven user interfaces
- Experience working with APIs and real-time data (WebSockets, streaming, etc.)
- Strong focus on performance and clean, maintainable code
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into usable interfaces
Nice to Have
- Experience with data visualisation libraries (e.g. D3.js, Three.js)
- Exposure to mapping/GIS tools or geospatial data
- Background in highly regulated or secure environments
- Understanding of UX principles in high-stakes applications
