About The Role
The CMS Insurance & Reinsurance Group is looking to hire an associate into its construction disputes team – ranked band 1 for construction professional negligence – based in Bristol at 1‑4 PQE level. The role requires a good working knowledge of construction and engineering disputes, ideally including defending PI claims against contractors and construction professionals. While experience in insurance and policy coverage is an advantage, it is not essential.
Working with a market‑leading team and numerous individually ranked partners, you will be exposed to a major international construction and engineering client base, leading insurers, and brokers. The team is known for being friendly, technically excellent and highly commercial in their advice, and offers the prospect of working closely with key clients while developing your own contacts and network.
About You
We invest in your ongoing training and development to support your professional goals from day one. Applicants must meet the following skills and experience:
- 1‑4 PQE, with experience gained at a city, insurance, major regional or leading international firm dealing with major construction and engineering or insurance undertakings.
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills and the ability to deliver practical and commercial advice.
- Client‑facing role requiring sound judgement, good interpersonal, and project management skills.
- Experience in the construction and engineering sector, ideally with professional negligence disputes; broader construction background is acceptable if you wish to move into insurance and/or disputes.
