The Estimating Co Op role provides the opportunity to move beyond the classroom and into the technical and strategic side of heavy civil construction while supporting experienced estimators in their day-to-day work. In this position, you will assist with reviewing project plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, organizing bid documents, helping develop cost estimates for complex infrastructure projects, engaging with premier subcontractors and vendors, and participating in bid reviews.
You will work closely with the estimating team to support preconstruction efforts, contribute to planning discussions, and help coordinate information from subcontractors and suppliers. You may also have opportunities to visit jobsites to better understand field conditions and how they influence scope, pricing, and overall project execution. Through this hands‑on support, you will gain exposure to the full estimating process from early concept through bid submission while building practical knowledge and confidence.
The ideal candidate for this role is a self‑motivated individual who takes initiative and is eager to contribute while learning from experienced estimators. They have a genuine interest in performing calculations, developing cost estimates, and supporting the preparation of accurate and competitive bids. This individual is detail oriented, curious, and motivated to understand how projects are priced and awarded, with an interest in potentially pursuing a long‑term career in an estimating environment.

This is a full‑time temporary (seasonal) position, and the work week for employees is normally considered 40 hours Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required to support time‑sensitive issues as they arise. However, greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to this position.
The work is performed in a non-smoking office environment. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments. The majority of the work schedule will be performed in the office with minimal travel required.
