Position Purpose and Objective
As a Quality Engineer you will evaluate the quality assurance of processes and products and recommend revisions to indicated processes and relevant specifications. This is a site‑based role; home working can be allowed under certain circumstances to be established with the Senior Quality Engineer. Your duties include reviewing the efficacy of systems and procedures, creating documentation on quality, and liaising between process engineering, production teams and customers to uncover quality‑related issues.
Major Accountabilities
- Demonstrate strong safety principles in accordance with HSE requirements.
- Monitor the entire production process and perform regular vertical audits to identify potential problems early.
- Support production by liaising with process engineers, supervisors, team leaders and operatives to improve product quality.
- Lead customer complaints, internal non‑conformances and SCARs.
- Perform customer specification review and originate supplier purchasing specifications.
- Identify and support continual improvement opportunities in Hot Melt, Resin or UD/FC production areas.
- Support NPI and management of change processes across all site functions.
- Support contract/specification review processes when indicated.
- Support the site during customer visits, customer audits and external certification visits.
- Perform on‑time audit activities as scheduled and support other auditors as needed.
- Liaise with various business areas to ensure quality system knowledge is utilised fully.
- Provide Poke‑Yoke solutions via 3‑5‑8D investigations into internal audit findings, NCNs, customer complaints and data trends.
- Record and present scrap data with fault codes.
- Support APQP/PPAP activities, especially in phases 3 and 4.
- Carry out quality training, ensuring all relevant training is captured with adequate sign‑off.
- Inspect incoming raw materials as needed and when issues arise.
- Support new item creation, bundling of purchasing specifications and management of change requests.
- Support improvement and creation of QMS documentation and processes.
- Support external, internal or third‑party audits.
Education
Degree level education.
Experience
4–6 years working with quality assurance (AS9100 Aerospace and IATF 16949 Automotive QMS knowledge essential). Excellent IT skills, including SAP, Q Pulse & ETQ (non‑conformance management portal). Solid understanding of QMS systems, SAP, customer specific requirements and relevant production processes.
Specific Skills
- Explain, demonstrate and train individuals in the use of QA systems such as QPulse/ETQ and SAP for internal NCNs.
- Explain and demonstrate relevant QA processes to internal and external parties.
- Understand current accreditations (AS9100, IATF 16949, Nadcap).
- Upgrade processes to comply with IATF 16949 and AS9100.
