With the significant growth in hyperscale computing we are expanding our team at Huber + Suhner Polatis to meet increased demand. We produce market‑leading optical circuit switches for advanced fibre optic connectivity in the communications, industrial and government sectors.
The engineering department is the development engine of the business, taking new product ideas from concept into volume manufacture. The department consists of Systems, Mechanical, Electronic and Software Engineering teams focused on development, and a New Product Introduction team focused on release to manufacture.
The Electronic Design Engineer reports to the Electronic Design Manager to deliver new and updated electronic designs as part of the Huber + Suhner Product Evolution Process. The role involves developing electronics circuits and systems architectures to support product development of leading‑edge technologies for the next generation of resilient optical switching products.
Responsibilities
- Deliver hardware design from concept through to successful delivery of product into manufacturing.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software and system engineers to find solutions to customer requirements.
- Implement DfX as needed to ensure a robust supply chain and manufacturing process.
- Ensure adherence to the relevant quality systems and engineering processes.
- Review electronic requirements and create or review compliance matrices.
- Conduct electronic architecture reviews, simulation and prototyping to analyse concept designs.
- Perform PCB layout design using Altium, conduct component lifecycle analysis, maintain component database, create new parts, and peer‑review work of other engineers.
- Design and implement electronic schematics for digital embedded systems.
- Create test plans to validate new designs or design iterations.
- Validate testing and qualification of resilient hardware and firmware designs.
- Support other design areas during the product development lifecycle.
