EA Associates are working with a well-established and growing Groundworks contractor based in Cambridge who are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their team.

This is a varied and hands‑on role, offering involvement across both pre‑construction and commercial management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys seeing projects through from tender stage to final account.
The Role
Working closely with the Directors and operational teams, you will play a key role in both winning and delivering projects, taking responsibility for estimating, cost control, and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed estimates, tenders, and cost plans for groundworks packages
- Carrying out take‑offs and pricing works including foundations, drainage, roads, and infrastructure
- Subcontractor procurement and negotiation
- Managing project costs from award through to final account
- Preparing valuations, variations, and cost reports
- Monitoring project performance and forecasting costs
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Working closely with site teams to support project delivery and ensure commercial efficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience within groundworks or civil engineering
- Previous experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, or a combined role
- Strong understanding of groundworks packages and associated costs
- Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities across different stages of projects
