Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Exciting opportunity to join the Mechanical Future Concepts team as a Mechanical Design Engineer within the Sparkworks area. This role involves working on novel and disruptive technologies, contributing to innovative projects that shape the future of missile design and research.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Mechanical Lead for assigned projects, providing Mechanical Engineering expertise to a multidisciplinary team.
• Work on projects in the first stages of development, shaping their direction into full development and rapidly prototyping designs.
• Propose ideas for future research topics and secure funding to develop these ideas within the Function.
• Address challenging engineering problems and receive structured skills development.

Qualifications

• A good understanding of Mechanical Design, including structural and thermal considerations.
• The ability to develop concept design solutions with limited information and changing requirements.
• Wider awareness of related disciplines such as Electronic Packaging and Low Observability is beneficial.
• Relevant 3D CAD/CAE experience (training on preferred CAE tools will be given).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders across the business.

• Salary: Circa £55,000 depending on experience.
