We are looking for a proactive and customer‑focused Technical Sales Engineer to join our growing Head Office team in Blackburn.
In this role, you won’t be hidden behind spreadsheets you’ll be a key commercial interface between our clients and our HIU product offering. You’ll translate customer needs into compelling technical solutions, support the sales cycle from enquiry to order, and help strengthen Vital Energi’s position as a trusted partner in the heat network sector.
Whether you’re advising consultants on system design, supporting contractors with product selection, or helping homeowners understand their HIU, you’ll be a confident communicator who can build relationships, solve problems, and maximise sales opportunities.
Key Accountabilities
- Interpret customer requirements to provide suitable, cost‑effective, technically feasible HIU solutions
- Carry out necessary calculations and selections to allow preparation of HIU quotations to meet with the customers’/project teams’ requirements
- Be the point of contact for any HIU related queries from inside and outside of the company, including consultants, contractors, plumbers, homeowners and tenants
- Prepare HIU related documentation, such as works orders, technical submissions, datasheets, installation guides, commissioning procedures and O&M manuals
- Assist with the design and development of the company’s HIU offering, to meet with current/future market requirements
- Work with HIU manufacturers with a view to improving the product’s price, function and/or appearance
- Provide quotations for replacement HIU spare parts and co‑ordinate the despatch as necessary
- Develop and maintain a suitable documentation library
- Attend/ address/ respond to external queries in a timely and effective manner to maximise sales opportunities and enhance the company’s reputation with existing and potential clients
- Develop and share knowledge of other industry HIU offerings
- Develop effective working processes to support the HIU function
- Other Duties:
- Control stock of HIU components to fulfil projected orders for spare parts and complete HIUs, assisting with stock takes where necessary
- Liaise with HIU/component manufacturers to ensure orders are delivered in accordance with customers’/project teams’ expectations
- Process deliveries of components and HIUs
The Person
Education / Qualifications
- Qualified to a minimum of HNC level in a mechanical engineering discipline
- A full UK driving licence
Core/Technical Competences
- Computer literate with working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Experience of using AutoCAD and/or Microsoft Dynamics would be desirable
- Knowledge of HIUs, heating & air conditioning systems and/or energy centre processes would be advantageous
- High attention to detail
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision
- Accurate and efficient inputting of data
