We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer (Mechanical) and Senior Design Engineer (Electrical) to join us at CPW, based at our Solihull Office.
These are permanent full-time positions working 36.25 hours per week under our agile framework.
Job Overview
As a Senior Engineer, you will be a vital part of the team and have a high degree of autonomy. You should be a well‑organised, flexible, driven and forward‑planning professional, able to deliver high‑standard work to tight timescales. You will also manage the mechanical engineering aspects of junior team members assisting on projects.
Responsibilities
- Act as project leader on selected projects
- Work as part of a larger team on certain projects
- Attend principal meetings and make client presentations on selected projects
- Raise and promote the level of technical excellence relating to mechanical engineering within the team
- Develop the ability to become a point of contact for key clients
- Help generate repeat business through customer care of existing clients
- Work on a variety of technically challenging and interesting projects across varied sectors
- Be client‑facing and involved in all stages of the projects from inception to completion
- Work closely with others in a team environment to achieve a common goal
- Produce drawings and specifications
- Produce calculations or guide others to complete them
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering (Chartered or working towards). Candidates with HNC or HND with suitable design experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 3–4 years of design experience in building services, post‑qualification
- Experience of software design using Microsoft Suite, Relux/Dialux, Amtech, Revit
- Knowledge of British and European standards, Building Regulations documents, etc.
- Knowledge of HTM’s would be beneficial
- Professional membership (CIBSE, IET)
- Good understanding of HV/LV systems
- Knowledge of integration of embedded generation
- Understanding and specification of incorporating various renewable technologies
- Working knowledge of BREEAM
- Appreciation of electrical engineering to cover both disciplines at meetings
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong willingness to learn and desire to develop new and existing skills
