Job Description:

GroundworksLocation: Bridgwater (site – based) with office support in BristolSalary: £60,000 – £80,000 + digsWorking Pattern: Site based with up to 2 days per week remote working

We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join an established groundworks and reinforced concrete frame subcontractor delivering technically complex projects across the Southwest of England, with a strong and growing presence in Bridgwater and Bristol.

The role will support a diverse portfolio of work spanning EV and hydrogen infrastructure, retail and petroleum schemes, commercial developments, and heritage projects, including museums. A key current project is a large-scale EV battery storage facility in Bridgwater, where the business is delivering specialist groundworks and RC packages on a live site.

While historically recognised for delivering major schemes in London, the business has seen a significant increase in work across the Southwest and is actively investing in building along‑term regional presence, with plans to expand further into Wales. This role will suit a Quantity Surveyor from a groundworks subcontractor background who enjoys working closely with site teams and wants to be part of a business growing outside of its traditional core market.

Role Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of groundworks and reinforced concrete packages from site mobilisation through to final account.

This is a subcontractor side role, working under a mix of NEC and JCT contracts, with a strong emphasis on cost control, commercial reporting and close collaboration with delivery teams. The position is predominantly site‑based in Bridgwater, with support from the Bristol office and flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week, depending on project requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Commercial management of groundworks and RC packages
  • Cost forecasting, valuations and cash flow management
  • Preparation and submission of applications for payment
  • Managing variations, change control and final accounts
  • Working under NEC and JCT forms of contract
  • Procurement and management of supply chain subcontractors
  • Supporting site teams with commercial reporting and risk management

About You

This role is ideally suited to a Quantity Surveyor from a groundworks subcontractor background who is comfortable working on live construction sites.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks and/or reinforced concrete
  • Strong understanding of subcontractor commercial processes
  • Working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
  • Confidence managing packages independently on live projects

What’s on Offer

  • Salary between £60,000 and £80,000, depending on experience
  • Digs provided for site based work in Bridgwater if required
  • Site based role with up to 2 days per week remote working
  • Long‑term pipeline of work across multiple sectors
  • Opportunity to grow with a business expanding in the Southwest
  • Supportive management and a delivery focused subcontractor environment
