Jersey CAMHS is recruiting an additional Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join a multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting time with a new service redesign and significant investment in the service. The successful applicant will work alongside existing consultants and will receive opportunities for private practice and to make a real difference to patient outcomes.

GMC Registration

Applicants must have full current GMC registration, a licence to practice, and specialist registration in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or be within six months of achieving such registration at the time of interview). Full eligibility for section 12 approval (Mental Health Law Approval) is also required.

In‑patient Provision

There is no dedicated inpatient ward on the island, but the team provides flexible intensive care packages for children and young people with severe or complex mental health difficulties. These packages include assessment and treatment and are delivered in partnership with Paediatrics, Adult Mental Health and Children’s Services (Social Care). Young people may be admitted to Robin Ward (up to the 17th birthday) or orchard Ward for continuous observation if needed.

Responsibilities and Expectations of the Postholders

No requirement for Section 12(2) status, Approved Clinician status or DOL assessment. However the postholder must attend training to become an Approved Practitioner under the Mental Health (Jersey) Law 2016.
