Job Description:

An opportunity for an MP&L Manager has become available with an established OEM in Coventry, on a permanent employment basis.

The MP&L Manager will be responsible for leading the Inventory & Logistics Team ensuring materials are available as required to fulfil production and manufacturing requirements and will have responsibility of controlling inventory level to a high-performing standard.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement inventory improvement policies supporting right first-time production
  • Control level of inventory including sequencing, improved packaging, Kanbans, etc.
  • Develop and implement KPIs to measure and improve the performance of the material supply at point of use
  • Expedite material to support build plan, using line load, schedule, spreadsheets, MRP etc.
  • Control inventory and obsolete stock through change management processes
  • Review MRP on a scheduled basis, adjusting and communicating changes as necessary and ensuring that exception messages are actioned and schedule issued to supply base
  • Ensure team’s compliance to processes and where required the creation or improvement of the process
  • Develop annual budget, promote cost reduction and waste elimination actions along with adherence to budget within department
  • Ensuring continuous development of the logistics team’s competencies in line with the business and individual requirements
  • Ensure all supplier and customer logistics are measured and controlled in line with budget and forecasts
  • Lead and manage the teams performance, attendance and conduct, dealing with discipline and grievance issues as and when required, using early intervention to resolve any conflict

Skills & Experience Required

  • Relevant qualification or a Level 5 in a Supply Chain Management discipline or equivalent
  • Excellent MRP Experience – Oracle or other MRP
  • Project management experience
  • Proven Senior materials control and/or planning role within manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of modern material control processes
  • Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques
  • Strong Change Management competencies
  • Commercial awareness, forecasting, cost control and budget management
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with honesty and integrity
  • Possess good analytical skills, think creatively and ability to solve complex problems
  • Good negotiation skills and ability to influence others
  • Performance management
