Job Description:

We are seeking a Principal Heritage Consultant to join our team in London or Cambridge. The role involves leading fieldwork projects, preparing tenders, developing archaeological strategies, liaising with stakeholders, and contributing to desk-based assessments. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, knowledge of Irish and UK heritage legislation, and business development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and deliver fieldwork projects and archaeological strategies from tender to execution.
  • Prepare competitive tenders and design scope and methodology for fieldwork in line with health and safety protocols.
  • Monitor and assure subcontractor work, reviewing deliverables and ensuring compliance with RAMS.
  • Produce or contribute to archaeological desk-based assessments and liaise with stakeholders, curators, and clients.

Qualifications

  • Experience in archaeological fieldwork project management, including project, financial, and staff management.
  • Robust knowledge of Irish archaeology, history, planning processes, and relevant heritage legislation.
  • Experience in heritage and planning, masterplanning, heritage conservation, regeneration, tourism, sustainability, placemaking, multidisciplinary collaboration, and business development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and teamwork ability.
  • Highly motivated, conscientious, efficient, and able to meet deadlines and budgets.
