Overview
A large, highly-sought-after architecture and design studio at the forefront of design is seeking a commercially minded Head of Finance for a 12-16 month maternity cover contract. Reporting directly to the Board, you will oversee day‑to‑day finance operations and provide strategic financial guidance while leading a small team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop the finance team, setting objectives and driving performance
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic insight and supporting long‑term planning
- Oversee financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management
- Monitor financial performance, identify risks, opportunities and improvement areas
- Manage year‑end processes and audits
- Coordinate international group accounting, consolidation and overseas advisor collaboration
- Lead payroll, pensions and partner remuneration processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Drive process improvements, systems development and financial efficiencies
- Collaborate across the business to support strategic initiatives and operational objectives
Key Skills / Requirements
- Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent
- 8+ years of finance experience, ideally within architecture/design or professional services
- Proven track record in financial leadership, strategy, reporting and team management
- Experience with group accounting, international entities and multi‑jurisdictional compliance
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate data into insight
- Advanced Excel and strong systems knowledge
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience in line‑managing a team and developing staff
- Discreet, detail‑oriented and confident handling sensitive financial information
