Commercial Manager

Overall Purpose

To support the project construction and commercial team and work closely with the Operations Manager, Procurement Manager and Finance Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and manage the site/project based Quantity Surveyors.
• Dispute resolution with clients and suppliers (subcontractors etc.)
• Negotiation and preparation of complex contractual variations with clients.
• Review of monthly payment applications.
• Offer support to the project buyer team.
• Challenge site progress and cost to completion (CVR).
• Summary level reporting into board of directors on each project.
• Ensure EWN’s are raised in line with contractual requirements.
• Ad-hoc commercial negotiations with clients.
• Monitoring completion of project milestones and ensuring milestones are raised in a timely manner.
• Provide contractual support to site Project Managers/QS team.
• Liaise with legal department to ensure subcontracts are in place as required.

• Relevant Degree
• Experience of leading team of Commercial staff across multiple projects
• 8+ years construction industry, preferably within utilities sector
• Commercial acumen with strong numeracy skills
• Ability to influence people at all levels of the organisation
• Stakeholder management
• Ability to challenge information presented
• Recognised membership of industry body (i.e. IET, RICS, CICES)
• Advanced excel user
• Knowledge of NEC3, IET, FIDIC or JCT contracts
• Experience of working for an ICP or Developer on a renewable energy construction site
• Experience dealing with blue chip companies
