Transport Planner Salary: £30,000 Contract: Temp to Perm Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm Overtime available We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Plant & Tool Hire Company seeking an experienced Transport Planner who can hit the ground running and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of transport services across multiple depots. The Role You will be responsible for planning and delivering effective and efficient transport routes across multiple depots, managing up to approximately 10 drivers or 8 vehicles. You will actively contribute to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational performance. Key ResponsibilitiesDrive route efficiency through regular review processes and compliance checks to optimise van/LGV schedules and 3PL usageDeliver operational performance in line with agreed KPI targetsKPIs include:On-time delivery performanceVehicle productivity (Jobs Per Vehicle – JPV)Reduction in vehicle accidents through proactive safety measuresMaximising vehicle uptime by minimising Vehicle Off Road (VOR) timeEnsuring 100% POD (Proof of Delivery) and POC compliance to protect revenueProactively reducing missed time slots and late deliveriesResolving transport-related issues raised by customers and driversConducting driver briefings and debriefingsAbout You To succeed in this role, you will bring:Strong organisational skills with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressureExperience coordinating resources and routes across multiple depots, including vehicles and driversPrevious transport planning experience within a similar or transferable environmentKnowledge of route planning and optimisation, transport compliance, and O Licence regulationsA Transport Manager CPC qualification (or working towards) is highly desirableStrong IT skills, including experience with systems such as Paragon, JobWatch (BigChange), or Rotec, alongside Microsoft applications including Excel, Access, and Business ObjectsExcellent geographical knowledge of the UK road networkA personable and professional approach with a positive, “can-do” attitudeCommercial awareness and understanding of cost impact within transport operationsA proactive and forward-thinking mindset, with strong problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environmentIf you are looking for your next opportunity within transport planning, we would love to hear from you….
