Sandwell Council is strengthening its borough-wide Anti‑Social Behaviour (ASB) Service as part of a major investment to deliver earlier intervention, proportionate enforcement and improved outcomes for victims and communities.
We are recruiting a full‑time ASB Senior Officer (37 hours per week) with a proven track record of delivering effective responses to anti‑social behaviour. This key role sits at the heart of our ASB Service, supporting the delivery of high‑quality case management, partnership problem‑solving, and community‑focused interventions. We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional who can lead by example, drive service excellence, and work collaboratively to ensure safe and resilient communities.
What You Will Do
- Lead on complex and high‑risk ASB case management, ensuring proportionate, evidence‑based interventions
- Carry out thorough risk assessments and put in place appropriate safety, safeguarding, and reassurance plans for those affected
- Provide clear, trauma‑informed communication and support to victims, witnesses, and vulnerable individuals throughout the case process
- Develop, negotiate, and monitor behaviour contracts, warning notices, and other informal interventions to prevent escalation
- Prepare high‑quality statements, evidence bundles, and documentation to support legal tools and enforcement action where required
- Work collaboratively with key partners—including Police, Housing, Community Safety, and support services—to problem‑solve and deliver effective outcomes
- Monitor compliance with interventions and escalate breaches in line with policy, legislation, and risk
Candidate Qualifications
- A strong track record of managing complex and high‑risk anti‑social behaviour cases
- Confidence in assessing suitability, risk, vulnerability, and safeguarding needs, ensuring proportionate and effective action
- Skilled problem‑solving, negotiation, and de‑escalation when working with perpetrators, victims, and partners
- Clear, empathetic, and professional communication, with the ability to remain impartial in sensitive and challenging situations
- Accurate case recording, evidence gathering, and confidence using case management systems and relevant legislation
