The Opportunity
This is a high-impact Principal / Lead / Cloud Architect role leading the architectural direction of a major, business-critical programme.
You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end architecture of a modern, cloud-native ecosystem (AWS), replacing a large legacy monolith while aligning multiple product teams, business units, and stakeholders. Focused on strategic Architecture leadership, hands on delivery guidance operating across technology and people.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll act as the architectural anchor across the programme, responsible for coherence, quality, and long-term sustainability.
- Lead architecture across application, data, integration, cloud, and security
- Define and evolve the target-state architecture for a modern digital platform
- Govern key decisions through architecture forums and design reviews
- Establish standards, patterns, and guardrails for multiple product teams
- Translate business capabilities and value streams into scalable technical solutions
- Oversee API strategy, integration patterns, and AI-readiness
- Guide teams through complex design challenges, PoCs, and risk reduction
- Manage cross-domain dependencies and third-party integrations
- Influence senior stakeholders and support executive-level decision making
- Align architecture with commercial goals, delivery timelines, and risk constraints
What You’ll Bring
This role needs someone who can operate comfortably at both enterprise and engineering level.
- Proven success designing and governing large-scale cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Strong understanding of event-driven, API-first, and microservices architectures
- Experience working across complex, multi-team delivery environments
- Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term delivery realities
- Confidence navigating senior stakeholders and organisational complexity
- Strong grasp of architecture governance, risk, and trade-offs
