An established insurer is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Claims Adjuster into its International Casualty team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong casualty claims professional to join a busy and highly specialist environment, handling a varied portfolio of complex direct and reinsurance claims across international jurisdictions.
The team manages a broad mix of casualty losses, with a particular focus on the US, Canada and Australia, alongside other territories worldwide.
The role can be based in London, Ipswich, Brighton or Darlington.
This position will suit someone who is confident managing their own caseload, setting strategy, driving claims through to settlement, and challenging key stakeholders where needed in order to protect underwriting interests and ensure robust reserving rationale.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Handling a portfolio of complex International Casualty claims from first notification through to settlement
- Managing a blend of direct and assumed reinsurance casualty claims
- Adjusting XoL and Treaty reinsurance claims
- Setting and maintaining appropriate claims strategies and reserves
- Driving claims forward proactively and taking ownership of settlement plans
- Liaising with lawyers, TPAs, brokers, delegated claims handlers and co-insurers across multiple jurisdictions
- Challenging external stakeholders where appropriate around claims handling approach and reserving logic
- Identifying coverage issues and escalating significant matters where required
- Working across a broad range of casualty losses including employers liability, public liability, motor/trucking, products liability, law enforcement liability, New York labour law and construction defect claims
Requirements:
- Strong Lloyd’s / London Market claims experience
- ECF experience, which is essential
- Experience handling International Casualty claims, particularly involving the US and/or Canada and/or Australia
- Experience adjusting assumed reinsurance claims, including XoL and Treaty
- The ability to manage a caseload independently and drive files to resolution
- Strong reserving, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- A solid understanding of downside risk from an underwriting perspective
- Previous experience in a busy syndicate, MGA or insurer environment is preferred
- Exposure to Trax would be beneficial, but is not essential.
