The Role

We are delighted to welcome applicants to this Advanced Nurse Practitioner role within the Renfrewshire CAMHS Team. Renfrewshire CAMHS is a friendly, well‑established multidisciplinary team that has a reputation for service development and improvement. Qualified Mental Health ANPs (Band 7) and trainee Mental Health ANP (Band 7 Annex 21) are welcome to apply. Trainees will undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Practice over a two‑to‑three‑year period and will demonstrate they have met all required competencies for the role through a final sign‑off before moving on to the fully qualified Band 7 pay.

You will join an already established Advanced Nurse Practitioner within the team and will work closely with the medical team, including the team’s Consultant Psychiatrists, as well as the wider multi‑disciplinary team.

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will manage the complete clinical care for your patients, utilising expert knowledge and clinical competence to support multi‑professional teams within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, ensuring a high standard of clinical care, in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and health and safety legislation.

Duration, Location & Working Pattern

Permanent, Full‑time. Base location: Aranthrue Centre. Shift pattern: Monday – Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act autonomously as a clinical leader in assessing patients with complex, multidimensional health problems
  • Independently diagnose and formulate clinical decisions
  • Provide treatment and management plans, including prescribing medications
  • Exercise authority to refer patients to appropriate services
  • Admit patients to relevant clinical areas when required
  • Discharge patients safely and appropriately within designated clinical areas
  • Work within the full scope of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner role

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications & Experience Required

  • First‑level Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Hold a current NMC registration
  • Substantial relevant post‑registration training and experience
  • Experience in managing staff, leading a team, providing education and training and establishing a supportive, learning environment
